Quality Assurance

Quality assurance (QA) checks help you find potential issues in your translations before they are submitted for review. Sygaea includes several automated checks that scan your work for common problems such as untranslated segments, terminology mismatches, and inconsistencies.

How to use quality assurance

Running QA checks

1. Open a document in the editor.
2. Switch to the QA tab in the bottom panel.
3. Click the button to run QA checks. The checks scan all segments in the document.
4. Results appear grouped by check type, with a count of issues found.

Reviewing QA warnings

1. Expand a check category to see individual warnings.
2. Each warning identifies the affected segment and describes the issue.
3. Click on a warning to navigate directly to the affected segment in the editor.
4. Review the segment and correct the issue if needed.

Dismissing warnings

Some QA warnings may be intentional (for example, a deliberate departure from glossary terminology). You can dismiss these:

1. Click the dismiss button next to a warning.
2. The warning is hidden from the default view.
3. To see dismissed warnings again, toggle the “Show dismissed” option in the QA tab.
4. You can restore a dismissed warning at any time.

Types of QA checks

Sygaea runs four types of checks:

Check	What it detects
Untranslated segments	Segments where no translation has been entered. These are flagged to ensure nothing is missed before export.
Terminology	Source text contains a glossary term, but the approved target translation is not found in the target text. Helps maintain consistent use of approved terminology.
Consistency	The same source text has been translated differently in different segments. Flags potential inconsistencies that may need harmonising.
Whitespace and numbers	Differences in numbers or significant whitespace between source and target text. Catches accidental omissions or transcription errors in numerical data.

QA panel controls

• Run checks: Scans all segments and updates the results.
• Show dismissed: Toggles visibility of previously dismissed warnings.
• Warning categories: Collapsible groups for each check type, with a count badge.
• Navigate to segment: Each warning links to the relevant segment in the editor.
• Dismiss/Restore: Hide or unhide individual warnings.

When to run QA checks

You can run QA checks at any point during translation. They are especially useful:

• Before submitting your work for review
• After completing a batch of segments
• When working with documents that have extensive glossary terminology
